The 10-Year note traded lower at the opening of today’s session amid an empty Monday economic calendar and as the stock market recovered part of Friday’s losses.
The calendar for this week kicks off tomorrow with Wholesale Inventories & Trade Sales, Producer Price Index and Small Business Optimism. It continues on Wednesday with Mortgage Applications, Consumer Price Index and Hourly & Weekly Earnings, and the FOMC meeting minutes. Thursday and Friday will feature Jobless Claims, Imports & Exports, Job Openings and Inflation Expectations per the University of Michigan series of indices.
Dallas Fed President Kaplan will speak tomorrow in Beijing; while Atlanta Fed President Bostic will also speak tomorrow at an event in Massachusetts.
The curve has bear-steepened with the UST 10-Year yield up 3.1 bps from prior closing.
