MBA Mortgage Applications rose +11.6% for the week ending October 17th, following a +5.6% advance the week prior (-9.0% YoY). Purchases fell -4.8% vs. -0.7% prior (-9.0% YoY) and Refinancing soared, up +23.3% vs. 10.6% prior (-9.0% YoY). CPI rose +0.1% (consensus flat) to a YoY rate of 1.7%, unchanged from August’s YoY level. Treasuries declined following the better than expected inflation data, however inflation levels remains below the 2.0% Fed goal. The curve is flat to yesterday’s 2:00 PM (PDT) close.
